(January 8, 2026) I’m a Christian with stage 4 cancer: 10 months ago I was told that I had about six months to live. As of today, I have been fighting cancer for about 29 months and I will not lie: physically, it’s been a pretty awful ordeal filled with losses, instability and straight-up pain.

Faith does not remove suffering

The Bible does not teach us that Faith removes suffering but that Faith redefines suffering; positioning it inside a larger experience where physical suffering is a tactic deployed by the serpent as a means to convince us to forsake Our Father’s gifts¹ of Mercy².

Those in the body of Christ are not to begrudge the suffering that may accompany physical death; but, be tethered to Our Father, His Son and The Holy Spirit during the process³. His so-called “work on the cross” was, in part, to vanquish earthly death as was His intentional reference to Psalms 22⁴ during the brutal crucifixion.

My suffering is not a random affliction but evil’s attempt to snatch me from His Grace, to provoke blasphemy⁵ with the hope that I forsake His Mercy⁶. Why? Possibly because I’ve born too many fruits⁷ for Satan’s plans during his final act⁸. Cancer is not from our Our Father: it is evidence of the serpent’s multi-faceted vandalism of His creations⁹. My healthy cells have been targeted by the destructive power of evil’s vast entourage. Who is directly responsible for my condition is anyone’s guess¹⁰.

Faith defeats the power of death

The goodness of His original creations¹¹ remains obvious despite the widespread assaults upon them that have been–and continue to be–co-ordinated and relentless¹². Furthermore, as prophesied in Moses’ first Book¹³, He crushed Satan’s head with His foot; conquering death–or, more accurately the fear of death–with His prophesied execution¹⁴ and resurrection. This spiritual armor is available to anyone who embraces His Son as their Lord and Saviour¹⁵:

“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” (Hebrews 2:14-15 KJV)

The truth shall set you free

The suffering that was supposed to get me to forsake His Mercy and commit the one unforgiveable sin¹⁶ has instead strengthened my resolve to bear even more fruit before I die. Accordingly, I can attest to the truth of John 8:32: the truth has set me free. My endurance is strengthened by my Faith; and, my Faith has been rewarded with additional Wisdom which has manifested as determination … and more. I have experienced the truth of Saint Paul’s words: “for when I am weak, then am I strong”¹⁷. Instead of destroying me, I have been blessed to see through the cancer for what it truly is: a wicked weapon wielded by a wounded warrior¹⁸.

Faith redefines suffering

Fear death? No, I long for [resurrection] as I continue to love Him more but realize I can still use my body¹⁹ to glorify Him and bear fruit. Mercifully, He has disarmed the wounded warrior: its weapons are now mine and I have embraced my role in a future that cannot end in darkness. Again, my suffering has not been removed: it’s been re-defined.

Dear reader,

I invite you to share in His victory. Redefine your suffering and bring your questions to His Son who was sent²⁰ to conquer death … and more. His hands still bear scars²¹ that say “you are loved indeed.” After all, none of us are suffering from anything that His Mercy can’t fix.
