Between the fear that is perpetuated via:

and the false doctrine that is reinforced via every medium, the probability that today’s Christians will truly follow Jesus must be approaching zero; His clear warnings(#fn link to warnings page “I never knew you”, “wailing and gnashing of teeth”, etc.) tossed aside as somehow less important than other Scripture.

As someone who is relatively new to being aware that Our Father, His Son and The Holy Spirit exists and the Bible contains both accurate history and prophecy, the most offensive false doctrine that I’ve endured throughout North America can be classified into X types:

  • The Complacency Con
  • Prosperity Preaching
  • [praying for life]

Section 1: The Complacency Con

#1 “No one can pluck me from His hand.” (John 10:28-29)

The problem here is the widespread use of the word “one“, when the word “man” is likely more accurate. One would think that consistency amongst the original translations would be simple in this case; but, even the translations of the Aramaic versions couldn’t agree with Etheridge using “man” and Murdoch using “one” (see text at http://qbible.com/aramaic-new-testament/john/10.html). 

 

#2 “As long as I believe, I shall not perish.” (John 3:16)

The problem here is our interpretation of the word “believe” which tends to ignore the importance of entrust/rely upon. (to be cont’d: ref story re: Jonathan Livingston Seagull, insanity of Ottawa and the 2012-present learning curve after “letting go of the branch”.

Section 2: Prosperity Preaching

(to do> complete introduction) I am no fan of AI (see work-in-progress opinion at https://twb.rocks/living/opinion/data-centers); but, for now, even search engine Bing’s “Co-pilot” preaches a more complete message than most of the [Bible teachers/preachers] I’ve heard over the past four years. Its response to “bible ask god for anything and he will provide” was:

The Bible clearly teaches that God is willing to provide for our needs, but with important conditions: asking in faith, according to His will, and with the right motives.

Key Verses on Asking and Receiving

Matthew 7:7–11 – “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” This verse emphasizes God’s generosity and the openness of His heart to answer prayers.

Matthew 21:22 – “And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” Faith is the foundation for receiving what we ask.

John 14:13–14 – “Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” This shows God’s willingness to act on our behalf when we align our requests with His purposes.

James 1:5 – “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him.” This highlights God’s readiness to supply what we need.

1 John 5:14–15 – “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” This stresses that God listens and responds when we ask in alignment with His will.

Conditions for Receiving

Faith: Believing God can and will answer is essential (Matthew 21:22; Mark 11:24).

According to His Will: God’s answers are shaped by His purposes, not just our desires (1 John 5:14; Romans 12:2).

Right Motives: James 4:3 warns that selfish motives can block God’s response. Pure motives—seeking His glory and blessing others—open the door to His provision.

God’s Provision
Philippians 4:19 affirms, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus”. This means God’s provision is abundant and tailored to His plan for us.
