Digital Storage:
- I overheard a conversation in Twitter/X Spaces several months ago when two tech guys were complaining about how it was impossible to buy enough extra internal hard drives for the computers they had built: everything was on back order.
- My experience in New Jersey at Best Buy in February 2026 when attempting to buy another external hard drive? Lots of boxes on the shelf but when asking for assistance to purchase one, the sales associate said “just tell me which one you would like and I’ll see if we have it … not much in inventory at the moment”.
MS Word:
- The free version of MS Word that comes with the free MS Outlook account no longer permits one to store a .doc file to one’s own computer/hard drive. The files are stored only on the “cloud”. THIS IS NEW. Currently, one can export to .pdf format and store on their own computer/hard drive; however, that is a feature that could be removed/restricted/etc. any time.
- I have installed on my remaining tech open text software versions of word processing and spreadsheet tools. The functionality is sub-optimal; but, I do not require an internet connection to use it. The installation files are currently available:
- at the bottom of “Diary of a Canadian Whistleblower” in “Productivity Tools” at https://twb.rocks/productivity-tools and
- in my Dropbox account at https://www.dropbox.com/home/twb.ROCKS%20Team%20Folder/zOpenOffice%204.1.15%20(en-US)%20Installation%20Files. (That account will expire soon and I will not likely be in a position to renew it; so, if there is anything there that you would like to copy, please do not delay.)
Printing Documents:
- Try buying a printer that does not require an internet connection. They may still exist; but, there were none when I searched in Brick, New Jersey and Tampa, Florida earlier this year. The pawn shops didn’t have any either. (Aside: I did pick up an awesome Fuji digital camera with way more storage than any iPhone and I have been re-training myself to start using that, knowing Apple can steal my photos just as easily as they have stolen my purchased albums from every device I owned newer than my iPhone 6 Plus.)
- Try printing whistle-blowing documents from a public library in Mason-run, Flagstaff, Arizona or El Paso, Texas. Prepared and resilient, you may succeed. Equally possible is that you will be denied service and/or escorted out by security following some bogus allegation by library staff.
In a nutshell, our ability to produce, print and/or store testimony and/or evidence is being squeezed into a tiny little box that is simple for AI to monitor/restrict/delete. Due to my situation, I must still rely upon digital tools; otherwise, I would be storing manual typewriters, ink ribbons, corrector tape and a boatload of blank paper.
Verily,
Deirdre Moore
P.S. Some of my whistle-blowing material is currently stored on my website at https://twb.rocks; however, given recent changes in Canadian legislation, it could vanish at any moment. Regardless, for anyone looking for a website hosting services, please know that Webnames.ca ROCKS! Testimony is stored at https://twb.rocks/about-us/webnames.
