(202506–) I first became aware of the imminency of the Service Industry Collapse when I drove past new Amazon fulfillment center in Buffalo, New York, aware that its largest shopping mall was about to close:

It’s already worse in parts of Canada (see Image x.005 below). Meanwhile, homeless individuals are encouraged to endlessly spend their time applying for these jobs so they can afford rent (when existing cashiers would be well advised to learn a trade before the service industry collapses).

In 2026, Ford Motors announced that hiring 4,000 would create an additional 14,000 jobs for the [local economy] (see 2026?05dd? Fox News interview stored at insert link). If that’s true, then what would a loss of x,000 do to the local economy?

202603– Oceanside, California made it pretty obvious that the gas station/convenience store model was already retro-fitted so vending machines could replace the existing in-store offerings … overnight.

Note: Hospitals in Ontario already use price-free vending machines. One inserts their bank card and the price is displayed once the item is selected.
