How to Write a Prayer to Him!

(July 22, 2026) New to being a follower of Jesus myself, I was a little taken aback when “Josh”¹—also newly aware—asked me to write a prayer for him. I hadn’t yet fully developed my own habit to recite the Lord’s Prayer² daily, give thanks, praise or anything else, let alone know how to write a prayer for someone else. Feeling both obligated and worried, that night I asked for help during a short evening prayer. The next morning, I couldn’t write it down fast enough. Suffice it to say that Josh was extremely grateful as the prayer produced resonated, specifically, with him. Clearly, I was merely [a scribe] that morning: there was no way that I was in a position to draft that prayer for Josh on my own.⁴

Nearly two years later, sharing my gratitude and seeking assistance from Him has become far more comfortable (and habitual). After my morning [reality-referenced]³ recital of the Lord’s Prayer, I also thank Him for:

• a) my mobility, such as it is⁵,
  b) my unshakeable purpose⁶ and
  c) my rock-solid conviction⁷;

however, my ability to “write a prayer” had remained relatively dormant. Recently—while attending a drop-in center class⁸—I was impressed by author Sarah Young’s Scripture-based prayer, shared by center employee Sheila on 20260709⁹.

I realized that my prayer lacked any meaningful praise. (TO DO: review Scripture provided by Rod (see bottom of Image 001 at https://twb.rocks/riti/bible-with-rod) and insert new section into my daily prayer.)

Not one used to asking for much, I’ve finally outlined an important request and will be asking Him for assistance with:

• a) broadening my belt of Truth—so I can help others to see through the layers of deception¹⁰,
• b) fortifying my breastplate of Righteousness¹¹—so I can better resist the world’s temptations when they are used to distract me,
• c) re-inforcing my sandals, prepared with the gospel of peace—so I can fully embrace Luke’s 6:3236¹² instead of choosing warm welcome
• d) externalizing my shield of Faith¹³—so it quenches all the fiery darts of the wicked … before they even decide to take aim,
• e) securing my helmet of Salvation¹⁴—so the commands of Ezekiel 33, warnings in Matthew 25 and summary of Ephesians 2:8-10 are always top of mind and
• f) sharpening my sword both ways with His Spirit—so it slashes the bravado of the wicked and prunes the impediments of the righteous¹⁵.

Why? Given Saint Paul’s message to the Ephesians at 6:13:

“… that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (KJV)¹⁶

and that which I’ve seen since 2019¹⁷, I’m sure I will need it.
