Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. |
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. |
the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. |
Earth was a soup of nothingness, a bottomless emptiness, an inky blackness. God’s Spirit brooded like a bird above the watery abyss. |

And God said1, “Let there be light,” and there was light. |
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. |
Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. |
God spoke2: “Light!” And light appeared. |

God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. |
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. |

So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. |
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. |
So God made the dome and separated the waters that were under the dome from the waters that were above the dome. And it was so. |

God spoke: “Separate! Water-beneath-Heaven, gather into one place; Land, appear!” And there it was. |

God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good. |
And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. |

Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. |
And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. |
Then God said, “Let the earth put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it.” and it was so. |
God spoke: “Earth, green up! Grow all varieties of seed-bearing plants, Every sort of fruit-bearing tree.” |

The land produced vegetation: plants veering seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. |
And the earth brought forth grass; and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. |
The earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed of every kind, and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seed in it. And God saw that it was good. |
And there it was. Earth produced green seed-bearing plants, all varieties, And fruit-bearing trees of all sorts. God saw that it was good. |

And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse3 of the sky to separate the day from the night, |
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs4, and for seasons, and for days, and years; |
And God said, let there be lights in the dome of the sky to separate the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years, |
God spoke: “Lights! Come out! Shine in the Heaven’s sky! Separate Day from Night. Mark seasons and days and years, |

and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. |
And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. |
and let them be light in the dome of the sky to give light upon the earth.” And it was so. |
Lights in Heaven’s sky to give light to Earth.” And there it was. |

God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. |
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. |

And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above he earth across the expanse of the sky.” |
And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. |
And God said, “Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the dome of the sky.” |
God spoke: “Swarm, Ocean, with fish and all sea life! Birds, fly through the sky over Earth!” |

So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the mater teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. |
And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. |
So God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, of every kind, with which the waters swarm, and every winged bird of every kind. And God saw that it was good. |
God created huge whales, all the swarm of life in the waters, And every kind and species of flying birds. God saw that it was good. |

God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth. |

God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” |
God blessed them: “Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Ocean! Birds, reproduce on Earth!” |

And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. |

And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures of every kind: cattle and creeping things and wild animals of the earth of every kind.” And it was so. |
God spoke: “Earth, generate life! Every sort and kind: cattle and reptiles and wild animals—all kinds.” |

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, an over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. |
Then God said, “Let us make humankind” in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.” |
God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, And, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of Earth. |

God blessed them: “Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take Charge! Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air, for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.” |

Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. |
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. |

Then God said, “I’ve given you every sort of seed-bearing plant on Earth And every kind of fruit-bearing tree, given them to you for food. |

And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. |
And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. |

To all animals and all birds, everything that moves and breathes, I give whatever grows out of the ground for food.” And there it was. |
